Vehicle Items to Check Before a Long Drive

Whether you're taking a road trip, planning a trip to visit family or friends, or are just taking a day drive to a nearby city - inspecting your vehicle and checking off a pre-trip checklist can help ensure that you are prepared and safe during your travels. While you are planning your trip, chances are that they last thing you are thinking about is the health of your vehicle. However, a broken down vehicle along the way can ruin an entire trip. Here are some things to make sure to check before you embark on your next long drive:

  • Pack a roadside emergency kit which includes jumper cables, a blanket, jack, lug wrench, phone charger, flashlight, flares, and water.
  • Visually inspect your tires for proper tread and condition and ensure that they are filled to the proper air pressure
  • Ensure that fluids are filled properly
  • Check condition of windshield wipers and that you have windshield washing fluid
  • Get an oil change before your trip if you are soon to be due for one
  • Have emergency numbers on hand such as AAA for emergency roadside assistance
  • Plan your drive ahead of time and know your route before embarking
  • Have your vehicle inspected at our shop just in case we catch a small issue which could cause a vehicle breakdown along the way, that way we can take care of it before you go
